“Excellence and Innovation in Medical Engineering”

Would you like to know instantly from the comfort of your chair, no matter where you are, which equipment in your hospital has broken down?

Would you also like to save money on your daily inspections, avoid having to waste time arranging for the repair, and, where possible, get the repair done remotely? In short, would you like to get more out of your hospital?

Would you also like to be able to get the ball rolling to repair the equipment asap, whether through your in-house engineers, or through our dedicated specialist engineers?

Would it be helpful to receive a monthly performance report on all your equipment so that you can pinpoint troublesome systems?

Starkstrom is looking for a partner to work with them in developing its remote monitoring systems or REMOS which will allow Starkstrom to monitor all lights, UPS, control panels, and isolated power systems across the world. Our engineers will be able to view and record events that have occurred over the lifetime of all of the above products. The system can monitor anything relevant and will provide a full account of the causes of each condition, combined with an analysis of the exact sequence of alarm conditions. Reporting back to the hospital management team, this in turn will allow our engineers to track long-term performance trends and identify any potential future problem areas. The hospital partner will have the opportunity to have a system installed on a complimentary basis for an agreed period of time

REMOS will provide an early warning of unlimited separate parameters, allowing real-time diagnosis and a swift identification and resolution of all the operating anomalies, which will result in timely corrective actions being made extending the service life of the equipment (depending on the contract and available spares) and helping to protect the patient’s life.

If you are interested in discussing this further, please do not hesitate to contact us

Faults reported may include, but are not limited to:

  • A blown reserve lamp in the clinical lighting
  • Low batteries in the battery backup
  • Malfunctioning Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
  • Dirty HEPA filter in your Ultra Clean Canopy
  • Blood fridge not cooling
  • Clinical lighting not functioning

Of course there are many more examples. Just ask for your specific issues.

When a fault occurs, we get an immediate message and will arrange to report to you, and have the repair carried out remotely or on-site, or alternatively make any arrangement that suits your needs.

REMOS diagram

The key benefits of REMOS are:

  • It is flexible – you can monitor as many pieces of equipment as you wish
  • It is expandable to cover future installations
  • It needs only one analogue phone line per site
  • Minimal on-site cabling is required to retro-fit system into any hospital area
  • Any of Starkstrom’s 24hr engineers can connect directly to the equipment on site, diagnose faults and advise corrective courses of action in real time
  • Integrates directly with Starkstrom eTCP to provide remote monitoring of all signals displayed and info displayed would mimic any faults or information present on the eTCP, such as AGSS, Medical Gas, IPS, UPS, Heat and Vent., Fire Alarm, Op. Light, Battery Backup, UCV, etc
  • Integrates directly with Starkstrom IPS networks to provide remote monitoring of all signals displayed on the Programmable Text Display and information displayed would be insulation level and insulation fault, current level and over current fault, transformer over temperature alarm, and EDS fault location
  • Ability to integrate a remotely monitored IPS Circuit Breaker giving advance warning of potentially hazardous situations
  • Integrates directly with Starkstrom UPSs to provide remote monitoring of all signals displayed on the Programmable Text Display across all theatres/areas and detailed diagnostic information contained within the UPS
  • Ability to integrate a remotely monitored IPS Circuit Breaker Tripped Module giving advance warning of potentially hazardous situations
  • Detailed monitoring of Operating Light Systems including the Battery Backup System. Providing advanced notification of blown bulbs, low batteries, charging failures, over temperature issues, etc
  • Active measurement and logging of battery performance during discharge cycles to help maintain the essential requirement of three hour battery backup. Battery charge / discharge currents and charger / mains voltages monitored in real time
  • Ability to remotely monitor any 3rd party piece of kit with advanced information via. Modbus RTU or basic information via. Volt Free Contacts
  • Any RS-232 or RS-485 piece of equipment can be directly monitored. Profi-Bus, Control-Net and Device-Net can also be accommodated
